ESL announce $50,000 PUBG Invitational at IEM Katowice

Sixteen teams from regions around the world will compete for the grand prize.

ESL has announced a new PUBG tournament which will take place at Intel® Extreme Masters World Championship Katowice. It will be the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' first LAN event of 2018!

Sixteen teams from all around the globe will compete for a share of a $50,000 prize pool on Feb. 24 and 25 at IEM Expo in Poland. Nine out them will be direcly invited – three teams each from NA, EU, and Asia. Seven remaining slots will go to the regional qualifiers winners:

• 3 slots for North America;
• 3 slots for Europe;
• 1 slot for South America.

Qualifiers will begin January 20th-21st. Event format will be announced later.

The IEM World Championship Katowice 2017 was the world's largest esports event in history, and with PUBG's competitive debut at IEM Oakland, we are thrilled to feature it again at such a renowned IEM event. First PUBG LAN competition by ESL & Bluehole Studio took place at Gamescom in Cologne last august. Its participants shared $350,000 in prize money. The second one was $200,000 IEM Oakland PUBG Invitational, which was held in November last year.

Right after freshly announced IEM Katowice PUBG Invitational there will be another major PUBG championship from StarLadder & ImbaTV. This event will feature 16 teams battling for their share of a $100,000 prize pool. You can read all the details here.
