Announcement of Recent Game Bans

In a statement released last week, PUBG Corp. made clear their commitment to stand against the generational systemic racism embedded in American society. Acknowledgement is merely the beginning, next comes action and that needs to start immediately.   

An incident involving two competitive players during a 303 Community Tournament was brought to their attention.The incident was reviewed by their staff and the decision was made to ban both players from PUBG for their discriminatory actions. For details, please see below: 

Background:

While streaming gameplay during a community tournament, Team Fabled was waiting for the match to start and using the in-game feature to attempt to draw swastikas on the map. These actions were being streamed by Team Fabled team member Twitch-Evasionyx. Player Twitch-Spoons initiated the actions while other teammates joined in, made jokes and laughed. The subsequent actions were verified through posts made by Twitch in a reddit post. 

Relevant Rules:

As per PUBG’s Rules of Conduct, this type of behavior is considered Discriminatory (Section 5(4)) and subject to punishment (Section 6). 

Section 5(4) – Do Not Discriminate Against Others (e.g. racial or sexual discrimination)

It is unacceptable to disrespect or use offensive words towards others based on their race, gender, nationality, etc. Please be friendly and respectful towards all players.

Section 6 – Penalty Criteria for Misconduct

1) Penalty Criteria is used to protect the customer’s enjoyment while playing the game.

2) If you fail to comply with Rules of Conduct, you may be restricted from using the service without prior notice in accordance with Penalty Criteria for Misconduct

3) If ytheir violation attempt goes over the final attempt listed in the table below, permanent ban applies.

4) If you violate any of the criteria listed in the table below and your ID is listed in the top 10 of the PUBG leaderboard, your ID will be temporarily or permanently removed from the leaderboard.

Ruling:

  • Twitch-Evasionyx:
    • Twitch-Evasionyx’s has received a 30 day game ban given that this is his first infraction.
    • As Twitch-Evasionyx is a professional PUBG North American player, this game ban will make him ineligible to participate in any PUBG competitive events during the 30 days.  
  • Twitch-Spoons:
    • While this is Twitch-Spoons first infraction, he has a history of discriminatory actions and language on PUBG discord communities, which requires swift and strong action. As such,he has received a permanent game ban.  

PUBG Corp. are committed to holding both theirselves and their community to a higher standard to cultivate company and community cultures that actively move against hatred and oppression. PUBG Corp. hope their community considers this a call to action to improve with us and to create a better atmosphere for all players.
