Twitch viewers watched 500+ million hours of PUBG in 2017

Gamoloco's recent report indicates that the past year was a huge success for the whole Battle Royale genre and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in particular. «For the 1st time in 3+ years of collecting Twitch data, the King League of Legends was challenged seriously last summer,» said the report about PUBG viewership on Twitch. As you might’ve guessed already, LoL is still the leader – Twitch users spent more than a billion hours watching League of Legends streams last 12 months. PUBG is the closest League’s competitor: our community spent a little more than half a billion hours watching PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on Twitch. Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Hearthstone are all in the top 5 of the rankings along with the League and PUBG. Fortnite from Epic Games – a new representative of the Battle Royale genre – was placed in top 10.

Despite the fact that PUBG is able to overtake LoL from time to time (for example, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds took the leadership in views in the last week of December), at large distances it becomes quite clear that MOBA made by Riot Games is the King of Twitch. At least for now.

Still, PUBG definitely has a potential to claim that #1 spot: at the end of last year PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has finally surpassed a 3 million concurrent users mark. Also, according to the SuperData December report, the PUBG audience already exceeds 200 million viewers!
