PUBG Esports Americas 2022 – Road to PGC

2021 was yet another year to remember for PUBG Esports. The return of global offline events with the PUBG Global Invitational.S and the PUBG Global Championship brought all the best teams from around the world together to compete for record breaking prize pools. The continuation of the PUBG Continental Series and the introduction of the ESL PUBG Masters made for a full year of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS competition.

Soniqs started off the year with a PGI.S victory and a staggering $1.3 million dollars in prize money. At PGC 2021, TSM FTX, KPI Gaming, and Spacestation Gaming carried the Americas, finishing 4th, 12th, and 16th, respectively.

While 2021 was a banner year across the board, we’re expecting 2022 to blow its predecessor out of the water. This post will highlight our plans for the Americas region this year, building off the recent global PUBG Esports announcement which can be found here.

What to expect in 2022

In 2022, we’re continuing to build on 2020 and 2021 by bringing back the PUBG Continental Series (PCS) with the 6th and 7th iterations, as well as partnering with ESL for two more ESL PUBG Masters events. These four regional events will award more than $740,000 in prize money along with the highly-coveted PGC Qualification Points that will determine which teams from the Americas region will qualify for the 2022 PUBG Global Championship in November.

But that’s not all, we’re also bringing back a fan favorite – the PUBG Nations Cup which will be held in June! More details on these global events will follow soon.

Check out this video that’ll breakdown all the action coming your way this year:

Return of the SUPER Point Rule!

We’re excited to inform you that the Point Rule will make its return this year as the main scoring system for the 2022 PUBG Esports Season.

ESL PUBG Masters

We are partnering with ESL once again to bring back ESL PUBG Masters in February and July. These ESL-hosted events will award $50,000 in prize money each along with PGC Qualification Points to the top performing teams.

ESL PUBG Masters Phase 1 and Phase 2 will be broken down into three stages: Open Qualifiers, Regional Playoffs, and the Grand Final.

Further details on registration will be out soon, so make sure you follow @PUBGEsports and @ESLPUBG on Twitter or check out na.pubgesports.com later this week.

PUBG Continental Series Americas

Both ESL PUBG Masters events will be followed by a PCS Americas event. PCS6 Americas will kick off in March with the Open Qualifiers and conclude with the Grand Final in April. PCS7 will follow the same format starting in August and coming to a close in September. Each PCS event will award $70,000 total across NA and LATAM combined throughout the qualification process on the way to the $250,000 Grand Final.

Similar to 2021, PCS Americas events will be broken down into Open Qualifiers, Regional Playoffs, a Last Chance Qualifier, and the Grand Final. The Grand Final stage has been converted to a two-week, 5 matches per day finale with a cumulative SUPER Point Rule leaderboard spanning all 30 matches. The highest point earning team at the end of the 30 matches will be crowned champion.

Additional details will be shared soon!

Return of PGC Qualification Points

Back in 2022 by popular demand are the PGC Qualification Points!
