PUBG Developers Detail Anti-Cheat Improvements
The developers of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS have published a new blog post on the official website, outlining strengthened measures to combat cheating and ensure fair gameplay.
According to the update, PUBG Studios continues to enhance its anti-cheat systems to detect and ban dishonest players more effectively, aiming to provide a safer and more competitive environment for all users.
Hello players,
First and foremost, we want to acknowledge the growing concerns surrounding the issue of illegal software use in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, and the shortcomings in our response to it. We fully recognize the disappointment and frustration many of you have felt, and we take full responsibility for not meeting your expectations.
We sincerely apologize to those of you who have taken the time and effort to report cheaters in hopes of improving the game environment, only to feel that your feedback led to little meaningful change.
We also acknowledge our responsibility in creating a situation where many players felt their reports and feedback were not being heard or properly addressed.
We do not see this as a temporary issue. In order to rebuild your trust and deliver real, lasting improvements, we are implementing the following fundamental changes.
Strengthened Penalty Standards and Operational Improvements
Over the past several months, we’ve taken a hard look at the limitations of our existing measures, particularly in failing to effectively block certain instances of illegal software use. As part of this effort, we initiated a comprehensive review and restructuring not only of our internal standards but also of our broader operational practices.
As a result, we have established a stronger foundation for identifying and addressing suspected cases of illegal software more swiftly and decisively. Both our penalty standards and overall operational framework have been significantly strengthened.
Building on this foundation, we recently conducted a full-scale review and analysis of accumulated data to put our updated measures into action. As a result, between May 15 and 18, we were able to verify and block approximately 210,000 accounts associated with the use of illegal software..
In addition, with the improved enforcement framework in place, we are now responding promptly to cheaters identified through community reports submitted via various channels, as well as through our own internal monitoring.
This is not just a policy update. Our goal is to provide enforcement that is stronger, more consistent, and clearly felt by our players.
Introduction of a New Anti-Cheat Feature
As illegal software continues to become more advanced, we’ve begun to see the limitations of our existing methods, particularly in detecting and responding in a timely manner.
To address this, we have developed a new feature that analyzes cheater behavior patterns and player interactions in real time, based on accumulated data. This feature has recently been fully implemented on our live servers.
The new Anti-Cheat system is designed to detect accounts suspected of using illegal software in real time and block them immediately.
Its primary focus is to reduce the likelihood of players encountering cheaters during gameplay, and ultimately, we expect it to contribute to a more enjoyable and fair play experience.
Supplementary Measures to Prevent False Bans
As mentioned earlier, the strengthened penalty standards may increase the possibility of false bans affecting innocent players.
We ask for your understanding that this is an unavoidable part of our top priority to eliminate cheaters from the game.
That said, in order to minimize any unfair consequences, we are implementing the following supplementary measures:
- Improving the precision of our detection systems to reduce the likelihood of false bans
- Operating post-review and recovery processes on an ongoing basis, so that any verified issues can be addressed promptly
We will continue to take extra care to ensure that innocent players are not affected, and we remain committed to building a fair and accurate enforcement system.
Looking Ahead
At PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, we continue to uphold our core commitment to providing a fair and enjoyable gameplay environment.
To ensure that this principle is reflected across both our live service and operational practices, we plan to share our Anti-Cheat improvement plans and a mid-to-long-term roadmap within the first half of this year. Through transparent communication and proactive efforts, we aim to address the concerns and frustrations many players have expressed and take steps to rebuild your trust.
We also want to reaffirm that every piece of feedback we receive across various channels serves as one of the most important guiding forces for the future direction of PUBG.
We remain firmly committed to taking decisive action against illegal software without exception, and we once again extend our sincere apologies to all players who have experienced disruptions in their gameplay.
This announcement follows the recent release of Patch 35.2 for the console versions of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on Xbox and PlayStation platforms.
